Logic and Categorization in relation to AI

Call for Papers

The L&C track is intended to provide an international forum for discussing the latest approaches in logic versus categorization and their relation to AI. The objective of this special track is to bring nonclassical logics and cognition among researchers in AI in order to compare different approaches of categorization in their relation with language and thought. Another objective is to provide an environment for communicating different paradigms and approaches to categorization as an interdisciplinarity of several fields. Specifically we invite submissions that fall within the non-classical logics and categorization in different fields (with their subfields) as :

  • Nonmonotonic logics and language :
    • Types theory and language
    • Extension/Intension
    • Syntax and Semantics
    • Semantic Network
  • Natural Languages :
    • Syntax and Semantics of NL (Categorical Grammars, Types)
    • Speech Categories in Texts (for instance topics focus and predications)
    • Categories in Text Mining, Annotated Corpora
  • Psychology and Anthropology :
    • Prototypes
    • Acquisition , Representations
  • Philosophy :
    • Categories and Objects
    • Categories and Cultures
    • Categories Dialogue with Machine

Any paper related to these areas are welcome.

Submission Instructions

Interested authors should format their papers according to AAAI formatting guidelines. The papers should not exceed 6 pages and are due by October 24, 2003. The papers should not identify the author(s) in any manner. Authors should indicate "Logic and Categorization in relation to AI" as the special track. All submissions will be done electronically via the FLAIRS web submission system, which will be available through the conference web site.

  • Paper submissions due: October 24, 2003
  • Notification letters sent: January 7, 2004
  • Camera ready copy due: February 6, 2004
